1985 to Present - President of ABE Utilities, Inc. Responsible for operation and management of a heavy civil underground piping contractor.

1982-1985 Combs & Associates  Sales engineer for Combs & Associates, a manufactures representative in the Water and Wastewater Plant equipment industry. Product lines covered the spectrum of equipment from instrumentation to process mechanical equipment, pumps and chemical feed systems. Installed numerous flow meters and flumes in all types of gravity sewer and plant systems. Experience ranged from portable flow meters to fixed flumes, bubbler flow meters, and float and ultra sonic meters for gravity flows in primary devices.

1981-1982 Law Engineering & Testing Company  Employed as a materials and geotechnical engineer in the Raleigh, NC office. Authored geotechnical subsurface investigations and construction material testing reports on projects in the eastern NC area.

1976-1981  Pomona Corp. Technical services engineer for a pipe manufacturing company covering the NC, SC, and Va. market. Our primary product was Vitrified Clay Pipe. During these years, significant exposure was given to field service of lines, leak location and repair. I assisted H.H. Lund in his portion of the rewrite of the WPCF Mop #9 “Sewer Design and Construction” as related to pipe bedding and installation guidelines.

Employment History

1997 to Present - Project Manager for ABE Utilities, Inc.  Responsible for project management of a heavy civil underground piping contractor. This includes bid proposals and material coordination for various jobs.

1995-1997 - Project Engineer for Currin Bros., Inc.  Responsible for daily supervision of grading and utility crews and job delegation. Prepare bid estimates for total site work, including grading, utilities, and paving. Act as liaison between  developer and governmental agencies. Responsible for purchasing materials for jobs and coordinating delivery to the job.

1992-1995 - Environmental Inspector I for Wake County Engineering Dept.  Responsible for inspection land disturbance projects to determine compliance with the Erosion Control Ordinance and approved plans. Prepare narratives and reports, answer complaints, maintain files and assist with enforcement.

1990-1992 - Estimating Engineer for W.E. Garrison Company, Inc.  Responsible for preparing cost estimates for performing site grading, utility installation, asphalt and concrete paving, sidewalks, concrete curb and gutter, erosion control measures and various appurtenances.  Also responsible for preparing purchase orders for obtaining materials from the suppliers and arranging the delivery to the construction site.

1987-1990 - Engineering Technician II for Town of Cary Engineering Dept.  Responsible for supervising and assigning projects for three technicians. Duties also included assisting Staff Engineer with cost estimates, preparation of contracts and specifications of various projects. Responsible for developing drawings from Surveyor’s notes and Staff Engineer’s design using CAD and ink on Mylar. Other duties included ordering supplies for drafting services and various office equipment.

1985-1987 - Engineering Technician I for Town of Cary Engineering Dept.  Responsible for assisting Staff Engineer with the preparation of various projects through limited supervision of Engineering Technician II. Ran blueprints and reproduced specifications for projects. Responsible for developing drawings from surveyor’s notes and Staff Engineer’s Design.

1983-1985 - Drafting Technician II, NC State University   Responsible for drafting drawings for publication and preparing photographs of drawings for slide presentations.

1982-1983 - Drafting Technician I, NC State University   Co-operative education duties of drafting various drawings for publication. Worked alternating periods with school quarters.

2001 to Present ABE Utilities, Inc. Manager of Pipeline Services Division.  Responsible for all line cleaning, CCTV inspections, and removal of obstructions such as roots, grease, protruding taps and other debris in sanitary sewers and storm drains. Work area includes Wake, Durham, and surrounding counties. Line maintenance operations are routinely performed for small municipalities.

2000-2001 Atlantic Pipe Cleaning – Sales Manager.  Industrial, municipal, and commercial sanitary and storm drain cleaning; Video Inspection; Pipeline point repairs and manhole to manhole pipe lining using trenchless technology.  Service Area: East Coast

2000-1995 Drainmasters RTP – Industrial Department Manager.  Responsible for sales and service of all industrial, commercial and municipal accounts in sanitary and storm drain cleaning and video inspection; Maintained company plumbing inventory.  Service Area: Research Triangle Park and Eastern North Carolina

1995-1993 Jet Vac Sanitary Service – NC Sales and Service Manager.  Serviced equipment and related products for the municipal public works industry.

1993-1987 Trussco Sales Company – Owner.  Sold and serviced full line of TV Inspection and Pipeline Cleaning Trucks and other municipal equipment related to wastewater operations.  Service area: North Carolina and South Carolina

1987-1974 Sperry Aerospace Flight Systems Division, Electro Components Plant – Senior Buyer.  Responsible for one million dollars in purchase contracts, precision gears, bearings, ultra precision machining, precision sheet metal and rotating components – all parts for the air frame and aerospace industry; Experience in blue print reading of tightly toleranced parts; Worked closely with engineering and quality control.

1974-1966 ITT Telecommunications, Raleigh, NC – Senior Buyer.  Responsible for the procurement of all printed circuit boards, raw materials, die-castings, wire line and wave guide components, precision machining and sheet metal fabrications.  Experience in blue print reading.
