management of a heavy civil underground piping
contractor.
1982-1985 Combs & Associates Sales
engineer for Combs & Associates, a manufactures
representative in the Water and Wastewater Plant
equipment industry. Product lines covered the
spectrum of equipment from instrumentation to
process mechanical equipment, pumps and chemical
feed systems. Installed numerous flow meters and
flumes in all types of gravity sewer and plant
systems. Experience ranged from portable flow
meters to fixed flumes, bubbler flow meters, and
float and ultra sonic meters for gravity flows
in primary devices.
1981-1982 Law Engineering & Testing Company
Employed as a materials and geotechnical
engineer in the Raleigh, NC office. Authored
geotechnical subsurface investigations and
construction material testing reports on
projects in the eastern NC area.
1976-1981 Pomona Corp. Technical
services engineer for a pipe manufacturing
company covering the NC, SC, and
Va.
market. Our primary product was Vitrified Clay
Pipe. During these years, significant exposure
was given to field service of lines, leak
location and repair. I assisted H.H. Lund in his
portion of the rewrite of the WPCF Mop #9 “Sewer
Design and Construction” as related to pipe
bedding and installation guidelines.

1997 to Present - Project Manager for ABE
Utilities, Inc. Responsible for project
management of a heavy civil underground piping
contractor. This includes bid proposals and
material coordination for various jobs.
1995-1997 - Project Engineer for Currin
Bros., Inc. Responsible for daily
supervision of grading and utility crews and job
delegation. Prepare bid estimates for total site
work, including grading, utilities, and paving.
Act as liaison between developer and
governmental agencies. Responsible for
purchasing materials for jobs and coordinating
delivery to the job.
1992-1995 - Environmental Inspector I for

Engineering Dept.
Responsible for inspection land
disturbance projects to determine compliance
with the Erosion Control Ordinance and approved
plans. Prepare narratives and reports, answer
complaints, maintain files and assist with
enforcement.
1990-1992 - Estimating Engineer for W.E.
Garrison Company, Inc. Responsible for
preparing cost estimates for performing site
grading, utility installation, asphalt and
concrete paving, sidewalks, concrete curb and
gutter, erosion control measures and various
appurtenances. Also responsible for preparing
purchase orders for obtaining materials from the
suppliers and arranging the delivery to the
construction site.

Responsible for supervising and assigning
projects for three technicians. Duties also
included assisting Staff Engineer with cost
estimates, preparation of contracts and
specifications of various projects. Responsible
for developing drawings from Surveyor’s notes
and Staff Engineer’s design using CAD and ink on
Mylar. Other duties included ordering supplies
for drafting services and various office
equipment.
